The EFLM survey on
"Minimal Retesting Intervals (MRIs)"
in clinical laboratories

will be open until 30 April 2026

It will take approx. 20-30 minutes

We kindly ask you to participate whether or not your Laboratory uses Minimum Retesting Intervals (MRIs).
You may provide more than one response per Laboratory.

MRIs are defined as the minimum time before a laboratory test should be repeated, based on the test’s properties and the clinical context. MRIs have emerged as a popular demand management tool to reduce over-utilization of tests to limit unnecessary repeat testing that offers little new information. However, actual adoption of MRIs in practice varies widely and little data exists on how the laboratories in Europe implement MRIs.

This survey seeks to gather information on current MRI practices in clinical laboratories across Europe. It covers general policies, motivators and barriers to MRI adoption, clinical acceptance, enforcement methods, and outcomes.

This survey is conducted by the EFLM Committee "Preanalytical Phase" and the EFLM Committee "Postanalytical Phase" of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM).

Thank you for your contribution!
